Precautions You Should Take to Protect Yourself From COVID-19
All you hear about on the news is the spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19. Though this may seem frightening, the truth is, there are several practical, simple things you can do to avoid the virus, as well as prevent its spread. Some of the most important things you can do are as follows:
- COVID-19 is spread by droplets, so ensure if you cough or sneeze that you do so into your elbow.
- Wash your hands many times throughout the day, especially if you have been in public. When you wash your hands, use warm soap and water, and scrub for at least 20 seconds. Additionally, avoid touching your face, as viral germs can enter through your nose, mouth, and eyes.
- Ensure you practice social distancing by staying at least 3 feet away from anyone you come in contact with. Additionally, it cannot hurt to simply stay inside as much as possible. Many people are now self-quarantining, especially if they can work from home.
- If you are feeling symptoms of the virus, like a fever, difficulty breathing, or a dry cough, you should speak with your local health authorities as soon as you can. They will tell you what to do next. Do not, however, simply walk into a doctor’s office. Call ahead.
